Server Infrastructure

Fully-Hosted Service
At StreamForge, we offer a fully hosted internet streaming service for radio stations and other audio providers. The StreamForge server infrastructure is hosted in Germany and Switzerland and is directly connected to multiple carriers. Only the best and most reliable hosting partners were considered to maximize system stability. Furthermore, all radio streams are served by a redundant cluster of servers. If one server fails another one instantly takes over.
Flexible High-Quality Transmission
The connection between the radio station and the StreamForge streaming servers is web-based and all common streaming protocols are supported. By default StreamForge rebroadcasts the source signal in a high-quality, license-free audio format and thus no royalties to third parties arise. Other patented formats such as AAC are available on demand. Bitrates of up to 200kbps are directly supported and in case of special user requirements higher bitrates can be realized.
Low-Delay Playback
The StreamForge streaming servers are optimized for live radio broadcasts. No buffering takes place at the servers and therefore the time offset between the source and rebroadcasted signal is minimized. Additionaly all streams from the same source are synchronized such that all listeners hear the same signal at the same time—Live transmissions are really live!
Full Control
StreamForge hosts and manages the necessary backend infrastructure to stream a radio program. Thus, our customers are relieved from all administrative and technical burdens. Nonetheless our clients have full control over their streams. Transmissions can be started and stopped at any time. Access control limiting the broadcast of a stream to certain geographic regions, countries, or networks is also integrated. Live statistical data about the number of listeners in the stream are accessible at all times through a web interface.
